Obama Email

I feel as if this email is all to informal. The fact that it says "friend" to me is their first mistake. A proper title may be "fellow American", "supporters of President Obama" or something along the lines of "to whom it make concern". Majority of people are not "friends" with Obama, neither are they even acquantances, so to call them so is informal and may be insulting. Also, the email in my opinion should be typed as a paragraph. When reading the email, the first thing was "about the deadline: it matters" before it even explained what it was asking. Even when the email asked for three dollars, it does not explain why. Maybe the email could say something about the campaign, and how those three dollars would help. The attatched website is a great way for the auidance to check if the post is valid, so they did do one thing right. Finally, the way the email is signed, "Barack" is also informal, it should same something like "thank you or sincerely, President Obama".

I believe the author of this email was probably just doing what was required for his job. I'm sure it wasn't President Barack Obama himself. I do not think that this person, secretary of some sort, took the time to think about the auidiance. The email is more general, so that it could be aimed towards any person. There isn't anything about the post that could help you learn more about the author, if anything it is misleading you to believe President Obama sent this message. If I had received this email, a couple things would have happened. I would have wondered, why did I out of all people receive this email? Then I would probably assume this was some sort of spam do to the lack of content in the email, that is if I even took the time to open it. If I were to open the emial, I would probably want some type of instruction. "Please visit this website before midnight tonight, and donate to the campaign for President Obama, any amount can help!" Altogether this email may have been more of a hassle then an efficient way to collect donations.

  1. Karah, I also think that this email is a scam due to the lack of explanation and with how informal the author was. The email went downhill with the title, after the author used friend, I think there was no chance for me or anyone else to donate money to Mr. Obama for whatever they want the money for. Maybe if the email was more formal and explained what the money would be used for I would donate the recommended amount of three dollars. I think your right the author was only trying to get his or her job done with sending out an email as quickly and easily as they possible could. There is not any kind of evidence that could help you figure out who the author might be of what they want the money for. Whoever the author is of this email should be fired if they are actually working for Mr. Obama. The author did not try to make the email out to any certain audience they took the short easy route and aimed it towards every person that the email would be sent to. Therefore I believe the same way as you that this email was a scam and I most likely would not have opened it to begin with.
    Sincerely, WilliamM
