In the email written to Ms. Jarmer, The situation is asking people to support the President in his campaign for the current election. The way that this email was written was as if to a close personal friend instead of to a potential supporter for his campaign for another term. It is clear that this is not actually President Obama but a person that is working to help raise money for the president.

The end of the email where it says ‘from your friend, Barack’ is an attempt to personalize the email to the recipient to make that person feel as though this is a personal message from the president himself, even though most people will know that this email did not come from the president himself. This is playing on people’s feelings so that they will donate to the cause. If the writer had taken this into account, I feel that this could have had a greater impact had the author realized that President Obama would not sign an email saying ‘your friend, Barack’ to a person that he has never met.

Evident in this email is that the writer is asking for a specific amount for one reason or another without explaining why the three dollar amount is the amount a person can give while at the same time not saying whether the  amount can be increased above three dollars that a person could give.

There is also no clue as to what the money donations would be used for. There are many things that the donations could be used for. These things are for the President’s campaign, to help support a charity, or may be something else entirely. It is important to be clear to people what the donated money is going to. For all a person knows, it could be used inappropriately and in a way that the person does not wish their hard earned cash to be used.

For this email to be successful the person needs to rewrite this and specify why three dollars is the amount that was asked for, to not sign as if the email was written by the President himself, and tell people where the money is being used and in what manner it will benefit anyone.
