So should I call you "Sir" or....?

No matter the situation, age, current standing, place of address, occupation, or time served, we always refer to American presidents past and current by the title "Mr. President". There is  a certain amount of reverence due to anyone holding that office, and a certain standard of behavior expected of that person. And I do not believe that sending out an email with this content and with this request is tasteful, respectful, or what would be expected by the Commander in Chief, so I am inclined to think that the email was not written by President Obama himself, but written in a generic manner by a subordinate with little on their mind other than completing the task at hand and moving on.

The email is vague, not specifying what the donation would be used for, and presumptuous in asking a random stranger to support Pres. Obama, when that may not be where the recipient's loyalties lie. The email uses language and titles inappropriate for the situation, e.g. "Friend", and is signed simply "Barack", which is not a manner in which a man with the authority that the President holds should be addressing a stranger- Oh, I'm sorry, a "Friend". Due to these reasons I do not believe that this email was personally written by the President of the United States Barack Obama. However, I will not go so far as to say that he did not approve this message be used in a widespread manner, or that the email may be fraudulent, because that much information cannot be garnered from what little we have to work with. The email seems to come from a credible campaign site, although why three dollars was the suggested donation is beyond me. If we look at it practically, the President honestly doesn't have time to write a personal email to every last citizen on his mailing list to ask for a minuscule $3 donation. It doesn't make any rhetorical or practical sense to think that this email was written to Ms. Marla Jarmer personally by President Obama himself.
