It is around that time again, election time.
Presidential candidates will do just about anything to try to win their people
over. Commercials, advertisements, rallies, phone calls, etc. are all ways that
they will try and persuade you for your vote. Barack Obama e-mailed our
teacher, Marla Jarmer, asking her to donate money for his campaign. It is
addressed to her with her full name but he is also addressing her as
"friend" to try and make her feel like she really is a personal
friend and is somewhat important to him. Addressing her as a “friend” is very
unprofessional and clearly shows that they just want to persuade her into
donating money. The letter is "signed" by Barack Obama but there
clearly is not any type of proof that he did actually sign it himself; it could
have been one of his employees for all we know. It is asking her to donate
three dollars to his campaign but it is not stating how or why it is going to
his campaign. The ending in this letter is very unprofessional because it is
simply just signed “Barack.”It should at least say thank you and be signed with
“sincerely” and have a professional signature instead of his first name just
typed at the bottom. This e-mail is very short and to the point and is directed
to the men and women who are eligible to vote.
I do not understand why Barack is addressing Mrs.
Jarmer has his “friend” because he clearly does not know her and is just trying
to persuade her into giving him three dollars. I think he should have addressed
her as a professional by addressing her as my fellow citizen or American, not
as a friend. The e-mail was too short and does not even explain what the
donations are going to. He should have explained what the money was going to
instead of giving a link that people will can go on and read. They did not
really try to persuade you into donating money for his campaign because they
just ask for a small donation of at least three dollars and it does not include
anything else. Instead of e-mailing people and promoting yourself through that
way, he should have promoted himself through different advertisements such as
commercials, advertisements, etc.
