Analyzing Workplace Rhetoric at CVS Pharmacy

I work at CVS Pharmacy in Hoopeston and this is a sign that is on our main entrance doors, where it is noticeable for everyone to see before they enter the store. The purpose of this particular picture is to inform our customers the dangers of drinking alcoholic beverages during pregnancy. The main message on here is written in a bold, red text so it is more evident to our customers what the message is intended to be. It also lets them know that if you do drink during pregnancy, it can cause birth defects. Doing this may make the viewer think a little more in depth about the situation and should make them realize how horrible it can turn out to be. I think this particular image is somewhat successful in telling its message. It being hung up as soon as you enter the store was a good idea to make it more noticeable but it is rather small and could be hung up in multiple spots.

This sign is rather important because alcohol is abused by many, and many people do not know the serious dangers of alcohol addiction. In order to make it stronger and more effective, I think it needs to be a lot more specific rather than just stating it will cause birth defects. It could even post images along the sides or around it to attract others. Pictures do a lot more rather than just facts sometimes. In order for more people to know about the dangers of alcohol addiction, I think hanging signs in the liquor aisles and by the coolers where they are held at, will also inform people a little more on it. Once the customers see the sings hung up all over, it would maybe cause them to second guess what they are doing.
