Rhetoric blog

I go to school at Westville High school and like many in my community enjoy football. For a lot of people in Westville we are raised around the Westville Tiger football team. One thing stands out to me that represents for our prior football past. Our main entrance to our school is lined with various football trophies and medals. Even with all that clutter something has always caught my eye, it is a large banner with the 1923 football record in which they had a fathomable season. They had in fact won all the games that season but even more astounding did not let the opposing teams make a single point. This piece of Rhetoric is trying to portray Westville’s prior achievements in football. It is highly noticeable with bold print and very large print so that anyone will see it as they walk through. It serves as a way to show Westville’s prior achievements in football and for the students to want to strive for further achievement so they can live up to the standards of the past players.
To me as a student this sign has always given me a sense of tradition in my school. It’s extremely important to remember the past and the people before you who went to the very same school. I think this portrays the past for Westville football pretty well, we have hold the first night football game and also have won the coal bucket for 4 years.  I think things like this are even more needed to lift our spirits now since Westville is starting to have a slump in their football team after having a long strain of good seasons. Many people are beginning to give up on our football team or discredit them. Things like these  remind us that we can be a good football team again because we have done it before.\
